Imagine yourself scooping out a spoonful of coconut oil and sliding it into your mouth. Then, as the oil melts you start swishing it back and forth through your teeth.

You are doing what has been done for over 3,000 years.

Coconut oil pulling is a technique taken from the ancient tradition of Ayurvedic medicine from 3,000 years ago. The oil is swished around in the mouth for about twenty minutes and then it’s spit out.

Even though coconut oil pulling has been around for a few thousand years, there’s still some debate on how effective it is. Apparently there has not been enough scientific research on coconut oil pulling to substantiate people’s claims. We don’t want to get into that now because that would be a very long article.

We think the safest route is to try it. The one thing everyone agrees on is that it’s safe. We recommend you use organic, non-GMO coconut oil if you are going to do the coconut oil pulling.

Or you can buy a coconut oil toothpaste and just brush with it 2 or 3 times a day. It’s easier and less time consuming than coconut oil pulling, and has the same benefits.

When you shop for your coconut oil toothpaste, be sure to look for the kind that uses all non-GMO and organic ingredients, and doesn’t clog drains. That search will lead you to CocoBright TM. Too bad we weren’t around 3,000 years ago to make life easier for the Ayurvedics too 🙂
